What is The Technology Academy?
Founded in 2007, The Technology Academy develops and delivers technology training courses in radio frequency (RF), wireless, digital TV and broadcast technologies. Our courses are focused on teaching practical, relevant and up-to-date technical knowledge, underpinned by essential theory, that can be immediately applied in the workplace.
Our online course portal offers a range of technology training courses delivered on-demand using the latest multi-bitrate streaming technologies for viewing on all popular web browsing devices, including iPads, iPhones, Android tablets and phones, PCs and laptops. New courses and subject areas being added every month.
How are courses structured?
Online courses provided by The Technology Academy are divided into individual bite-sized video lessons, each up to 10 minutes long. Topics can be studied individually and revisited as and when required. Many lessons include supporting course notes with web links to additional resources.
Do you offer free courses?
Some of our courses are free but most must be purchased either individually or through a subscription. Individuals and corporations may purchase single courses or annual subscriptions. Annual subscriptions provide access to our entire online course catalog for the duration of the subscription.
What is a corporate subscription?
Corporate subscriptions use corporate email addresses in the form YourName@CompanyDomainName.com as the basis for gaining access to our course library. Anyone that is employed by a corporate subscriber and with a valid corporate domain email address has unlimited access to our entire course catalog for the duration of the subscription, regardless of worldwide location.
If you would like your company to purchase a corporate subscription, please identify the authorized manager within your organisation and a corporate subscription will be set up. We have different fee structures according to the maximum number of staff that will have access to our library during the subscription period.
If your company already has a corporate subscription, just email us from your corporate email account. We will then set up your personal account and email you your login details. You will then have access to the course library.
How do I know if my company already has a corporate subscription?
Corporate subscriptions are based on corporate email domain names. Just email us from your corporate email account and we will check your email and tell you if your company has a corporate subscription or not.

I don't have a subscription. Can I still view some of the lessons?
Yes. Most courses have a few lessons which are available for anyone to view free of charge. They are identified with a 'Preview' button next to the lesson name. Just click on the 'Preview' button and you can view the lesson as many times as you want.
What is the newsletter and do I need to subscribe?
Every month, we send out a newsletter with information about new online courses as well as upcoming live instructor-led courses.
When you create an account as a subscriber, you automatically sign up for the newsletter. At any time you can easily unsubscribe from receiving the newsletter by clicking on the unsubscribe link on the newsletter.
Can I share my personal subscription with others?
When you purchased your personal subscription, you agreed to use it for your personal use. Please do not share your log in and password with anyone else. If others use your personal subscription, we would consider this a violation of the terms of use.
However, if you happen to be viewing specific lessons in a conference room and others are there with you and want to listen in, we do not consider this a violation in the terms of use. Our lessons make great lunch and learn presentations!
If you have a corporate subscription, of course, everyone in your company can have their own personal subscription. You won't have to share.
If I have a subscription and leave the company, can I still use my subscription?
In general, your subscription is yours. Once you activate your subscription, you can use it wherever you go. Your subscription will stay active for the duration of the corporate subscription period.
However, if your company purchased a personal subscription for you, and you leave the company, your company may decide to re-authorize the subscription for someone else. In this case, your subscription would be terminated. You would have to purchase another one.
Can I use any web browser to view your online courses?
We have tested our online course portal for compatibility with all common browsers. Most browsers work well with the exception of some earlier versions of Internet Explorer and we always recommend upgrading to the latest version of Internet Explorer. All other browsers generally work well on a wide range of browsing devices, including iPads, iPhones, Android tablets and phones, PCs and laptops. We particularly recommend using Google Chrome, since our platform has been optimized for this particular browser.
To check if your browser will work with our course platform, simply browse to any of the free lessons with a 'Preview' button next the lesson name. Then click on the 'Preview' button to see if the video plays within your particular browser.
If you want to know whether our videos will play in another country from our streaming servers, just ask one of your colleagues in that country to try one of the free 'Preview' lessons. The quality of the streaming video will automatically adapt to the available bandwidth. If you encounter a browser problem, please contact us so we can investigate.
What if I buy an individual course or subscription and I don't find the content useful. Can I get a refund?
Since we began creating our classes in 2007, we have offered an unconditional money back guarantee. If for whatever reason you are not thrilled with any of our content and want your money back, we will refund your money within 30 days of the purchase.
What is the subscription renewal policy?
When you purchase an annual subscription, it is only for 1 year. Before it expires, we will contact you and ask if you want to renew. Due to the increased content we are continually posting on The Technology Academy, we expect the subscription price to increase gradually each year.
Do you offer any public instructor-led courses?
Yes, please see our main website at www.thetechnologyacademy.com for details of upcoming public courses. We can deliver most of our instructor-led courses in person, throughout the World.
If I have a question about one of the lessons, how do I ask it?
Each lesson has a Q&A forum. On the landing page to the lesson is a box in which you can type any question. We post the answer, typically within 48 hours. The person asking the question gets an email to let them know when the answer is posted.
